As an associate research scientist at the University of Michigan, I have worked on a number of environmental issues in the Great Lakes and other regions, particularly related to the cycling of mercury through various ecosystems. This work has involved field measurements seeking to characterize the atmospheric deposition (both wet- and dry-) of mercury and other trace elements to the Great Lakes. Additionally, this work has involved meteorological modeling, ecosystem level deposition modeling and regional chemical emission, transport, transformation and fate modeling. Most recently, my research has lead to a new focus related to the study of the Great Lakes marine boundary layer.
