Project Description
There are scientific and practical needs for an updated description of the challenges/barriers to studying precipitation and extreme precipitation across the Great Lakes region. This include a summary of non-integrated US/Canadian data, Canadian data quality challenges, and lack of over-lake precipitation observations. This project will also include a description of the latest published research and a knowledge gaps assessment. We aim to work more closely with Canadian partners to better understand and overcome these data challenges and we plan to develop a narrative of justification for cross-border, basin-scale, over-lake evaluation of precipitation with emphasis on extremes. A synthesis narrative for stakeholder audiences will also be created.
